Stepping back few years ago multiplayer gaming was just a “+1 ”for each game that supported such a gamely mode; other than that, almost nobody cared about whether or not the title he/she wanted to buy supported a multiplayer mode. ass new concepts, new ideas, and new techniques have all replaced the old multiplayer mode completely giving it a new shape making it the hottest gaming trend for the moment.

The real explosion in online gaming world took place during the third quarter of 1993 with the released of the id software title DOOM. Doom was a revolutionary first person shooter and as years passed several other multiplayer gaming with mind-blowing concept cascaded in the gaming world. After the great success of Doom in the third quarter of 1993, success seem to be arriving with each Multiplayer game play, every time when it was released. Quake another multiplayer game released in 1996 after the released of DOOM enjoyed the same applauds. A year later Quake II shook the whole gaming world again with its more improved graphics. It was the only FPS multiplayer game to take advantage of this technology at the moment and with this pop up countless multiplayer MODs (modifications of the original game rules).


People were not fully acquainted with these new multiplayer games when Valve ’s Half-Life another online multiplayer game that rocked the world. The effect was so deep and massive that it is still being played even now. This is probably the most popular and successful game of the last decade creating millions of fans, drawing their attention with its most fabulous graphical world and sound system. Counter-Strike, Call of Duty etc are it ’s most popular modifications of the original game rules and it still appeals the sensory system of the game enthusiast. At present there are numerous blockbuster titles and many new multiplayer titles are released every day but the most dominant ones are Counter-Strike, Half-Life2, Lineage, Warcraft3, WoW, DOOM3, QuakeIV etc enjoying the kingly position.
